Lake Ozenuma live camera — Gunma / Fukushima
A quiet lake surrounded by high moorland. With Mount Hiuchi behind it, the light on the water changes colour sharply at dawn and dusk.

A quiet pond ringed by raised bog. The water, with Hiuchigatake behind it, changes the colour of its light distinctly between morning and evening. Hiuchigatake is 2,356 metres, the highest mountain in the Tohoku region.
The lead changes with the season. Late May into early June is skunk cabbage, whose white bracts come up across the marsh right after the thaw. Mid-July is the day lily. Late September into early October is the grass turning: the marsh grasses all go red-brown at once, earlier than the trees.
The pond and the mire were made when an eruption of Mount Hiuchi blocked the river. Silt and dead plants built up in the dammed water, and what had been a lake turned slowly into wetland. Oze was part of Nikko National Park for decades, and was separated out as Oze National Park in 2007.
From November to April it is buried in snow and the mountain huts close. This is the only season in which Oze appears with nobody in it.
Early morning. At 1,660 metres, mist can rise off the pond in the mornings. On a windless morning the surface becomes a mirror and Hiuchigatake is reflected whole. Updates come once an hour.
