From a village on Tysfjord, pointed up the fjord toward the mountains at its head. The far slope turns yellow in autumn. This is also a centre of Lule Sámi culture.

Dark water spreads in the foreground, with a tree-covered slope dropping in from the left. Beyond are ranges of mountains layered one behind another, with the water continuing away in front of them. Droplets on the lens sometimes show as spots.
Drag is a village facing Tysfjorden, and the camera looks towards the mountains at the head of the fjord. The water is inside the fjord, so unlike the open sea there are many days with no waves at all. The slope opposite turns yellow in autumn. This is also the land where the centre of Lule Sámi culture stands.
It is inside the Arctic Circle, so in summer there are days when the sun does not set and in winter days when it does not rise.
The village has a Lule Sámi cultural centre, and this is country where the Lule Sámi language has been carried on. Sámi is not one language but several, and Lule Sámi is among the smaller of them in speakers. The water of the fjord is open to the sea, so it has a tide: even on a windless day the level at the shore moves through the day.
