In the sample frame a white suspension bridge runs from the bottom left across a deep green gorge to a glass-fronted building on the far slope. Suspender cables line up large in the foreground, and small figures can be made out on the deck.
A 280-metre suspension bridge on a ridge at 1,000 metres in Meishan, Chiayi county. It looks down over the Chianan plain and the cloud sea. It opened in 2017 and is described as the highest-set suspension bridge in Taiwan.

The ridge in Meishan that carries the bridge is the boundary between the Chianan plain and the mountains of Alishan. Damp air rising off the plain stalls at this height, so the sea of cloud forms at roughly the level of the bridge itself. On a day when it appears you are not looking down on it but across its surface. Beyond the far end, a path continues between tea fields.
Whether the cloud sea appears varies day to day, and the operator gives no season for it. When the gorge fills with cloud, everything past the far end of the bridge disappears. Because the suspenders stand large in the foreground, a hazy day leaves the bridge appearing to float on its own.
